‘‘The visit of the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, the Prime Minister of the Republic of Croatia, Andrej Plenković, and the Prime Minister of the Netherlands, Mark Rutte, who are true partners and leaders of the European team, did a lot to recognize what our obligations are when it comes to EU ambition, that is, our European perspective. I will not say what the laws are and what we will do through our meetings, but it is clear that we have two or three weeks left to implement everything we have taken over and clearly defined,‘‘ said Čović.
He emphasized that he does not see any reason that these conditions that need to be fulfilled should be perceived as impossible.
‘‘In other words, we can work through dialogue and agreement and finish this work by the end of February, and I am convinced we will do it. We only have two or three weeks, we need to make the most of it, and our joint commitment is very clear about that. Croat representatives through HNS and all our representatives at all levels of government are fully committed to the Euro-Atlantic path. I am sure that we will make a full contribution, and this is not a strategic obligation for one moment, but a long-term goal that has no alternative,‘‘ said Čović.
He is convinced that he will give his contribution to make the necessary step forward with partners in the government by the end of this month.
‘‘We think that we have to do this work with partners in Bosnia and Herzegovina, exclusively through the executive and legislative powers. Our partners must give up the politics of outsmarting, policies of inconsistency, and incredulity in their work where they change their positions every day about what we have precisely agreed upon. Tomorrow we will have a joint meeting of all partners in Sarajevo, and this is exactly how I will approach it. Almost all the problems that are in front of us can be solved tomorrow, which the mentioned European team has tasked us,‘‘ said Čović.
